BACKSTORY
jasper jenkins ( born as jade ) is the older brother to jennifer jenkins, who is better known as βbaby jenksβ.Β as children, him and his sister shared an unbreakable bond until they were forcibly driven apart.jasper knew he wasn't a girl from a young age. jenks knew it, too. the two of them were raised in a strictly religious household, both baptized as babies and raised to reflect conservative beliefs. needless to say, those teachings didn't stick for either child.their parents heavily disapproved of jasper's transgender identity. however, after seeing his grades in school drop, they did reluctantly allow him access to hormone replacement therapy as a minor. this was their one act of kindness, although it was only done to avoid teachers and guidance counselors suspecting abuse at home.outside of giving consent for jasper to begin transitioning, thomas and millie jenkins were terrible in their own ways. thomas was abusive to his wife and their children, and millie turned a blind eye to how he treated jasper and jenks. she refused to acknowledge his wrongdoings, instead standing faithfully by his side.jasper would get between his father and sister every chance he had, bearing the burden of taking double the lashings. after years of suffering under the hands of their parentsβ abuse, jasper began to develop behavioral issues as a teenager.upon showing signs of blossoming mental illness, he was sent away to a catholic boarding school for troubled youth around sixteen years old and separated from jenks for years to come. in his time away, he never stopped thinking of her. she was his sole reason to not give up.once of age and able to leave without consequence, he realized jenks was nowhere to be found. their parents were dead, their childhood home was sold and occupied by new owners, and the system had no recent records of her. it wasn't until years later when the vampire lestat went on tour, did he see her again.jenks began to appear in the public eye, often seen with the rockstar and his band. this prompted jasper to read daniel molloy's 'interview with the vampire'. he began to consume content about lestat religiously, obsessing over any information pertaining to him. he was desperate to know who his sister had become involved with.it was easy to find jenks' whereabouts between lestat's tour, the events she'd attend with him, and social media posts. after going to many of lestat's shows with hopes of running into her, the siblings were reunited.jasper was immediately introduced to vampiric nightlife. like jenks, heβs a thrill - seeker ... a hardcore party boy and protective brother all in one. wanting to be around her as much as possible, it only made sense that he fell into company with the vampire lestat and his band.jasper acted as a human blood bag for many months, offering his body to any vampire willing to pay. eventually, he is turned by lestat himself. after receiving the dark gift, he now acts as an amateur photographer for his maker's band.despite his reckless behavior and seemingly shallow personality, deep down, jasper struggles deeply with the aftermath of abuse he endured and carries immense guilt for not being able to protect jenks in his years away.
